69 Infected with Hepatitis C at Hospital

Sixty-nine dialysis patients were infected with Hepatitis C while receiving treatment at a local hospital in Dongtai, Jiangsu Province in April and May. Investigators found poor sanitation controls at the hospital but have yet to pinpoint what exactly caused the infections. Local health authorities have since sacked the Party secretary and president of the hospital for poor management and organized special treatment for all 69 victims. As news of similar incidents have surfaced in recent years, netizens raised concerns over how to improve supervision of sanitation in China’s hospitals.
