As the gold medalist, he appeared on Chinese magazine covers and TV shows, including the Spring Festival Gala, China's most-watched show, which airs on the eve of Chinese New Year.

During his seven-year stay in Beijing, Peter Reisman studied martial arts at Peking University under the guidance of Professor Li Shixin. In 1997, he won first place in the nine-section chain whip category in a national tournament for university students.
