China’s space program was first launched in the early 1950s. In recent years, Chinese missiles, manned space flights, lunar probes, satellites and the Beidou navigation system launches have all made headlines. China is now a member of the global space family and ready to explore deeper into our solar system. China’s domestically made probes are set to arrive on Mars and 36 Beidou satellites will cover the globe, attempting to rival the better-known GPS. NewsChina interviewed senior space engineers and technical advisors who recalled how China started its space technology from scratch, talked of the difficulties it has met, and speculated on the future challenges of the country’s space exploration.
