The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) announced in July that China’s first domestically developed passenger plane, the C919, has completed the test flights for airworthiness certification, and has submitted the results to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for approval.

The C919 is a narrow-body airliner with passenger capacity of 158-168 seats, and a range of up to 5,500 kilometers.

Aviation expert Qiao Shanxun told media that C919 will receive its flight certification in August or September, but it cannot come into operation until it obtains a production license and operating certificate. The aircraft cannot enter the international market until it is licensed to operate by the European Aviation Safety Agency and the Federal Aviation Administration of the US.

According to COMAC, it has received 815 orders for the C919, 34 of which came from overseas.
