Intellectual Disgrace

Honesty Outlook November 22, 2021

By NewsChina Updated Mar.1

Since early 2021, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection reported that nearly 30 senior officials at universities nationwide were investigated, and more than 70 percent of them are Party secretaries and presidents. Corruption at universities mainly occurs in areas where authority and resources are highly concentrated, such as infrastructure construction, appointments, admissions, research funding and university-affiliated enterprises. To combat corruption in universities, China has reformed its university discipline inspection and supervision system, including establishing designated posts for supervisors and sending discipline inspectors to undertake anti-corruption investigations. Experts argue that it is high time to construct a top-level design and establish prevention mechanisms at universities to keep campuses corruption-free.
