Angry Chimp Chucks Apple at Zoo Visitors

A video clip showing a chimpanzee angrily rushing down from rocks in its zoo enclosure and throwing an apple at visitors went viral over China’s National Day holidays. A keeper at the Guangzhou Zoo told media that the chimpanzee, Yangyang, is the smartest animal at the zoo and was imitating how some tourists threw food to it. According to Yangyang’s keeper, the zoo has put up many signs saying not to feed the animals and also organized volunteers to inform visitors, but still could not curb the issue. The zoo has now changed its feeding time to after closing and Yangyang is undergoing a psychological assessment. Many on social media called on people to not feed zoo animals.
