In recent years, a growing number of Chinese animation features including Nezha, Legend of Deification and Mulan have attracted international attention for their East Asian aesthetics, compelling stories and filmmaking techniques, garnering both profits and praise. The rapid technical improvement and the growing demand for animated features during the Covid-19 pandemic have significantly contributed to the popularity of domestic animation. Over the years, production companies have matured in both experience and techniques after cooperating with overseas partners. Even though domestic animation has improved significantly, insiders caution that software development capacities lag behind international giants. In addition, domestic companies should improve script development, train more professionals in the animation industry and produce more cultural and creative products.
