Two Detained for Forcing Employees to Eat Earthworms

Police detained two heads of a renovation company in Guizhou Province after they allegedly forced employees to eat live earthworms. According to a police statement, the insect ingestion was a punishment for employees who failed to complete their duties. When one employee refused to participate, he saw his wages deducted. Other corporal punishments at the company included scrubbing toilets, doing squats and push-ups, and drinking raw eggs. According to media reports, one of the heads even threatened to sue an employee who leaked the news to media. Netizens said that any employer who disrespects their employees would eventually fail in business.
