Peter Walker, a former senior partner at McKinsey, has visited China over 80 times during his decades-long career, gaining first-hand experience of the country by meeting with business leaders, government officials and experts, as well as everyday Chinese.
Walker said the more he visited China, the more he became aware of the disconnection between his immediate observations in the country and its negative portrayal in the West.
Those visits led to his latest book, Powerful, Different, Equal: Overcoming the Misconceptions and Differences Between China and the US.
In an interview with NewsChina, Walker touches on issues about China-US relations that his book addresses and discusses the misunderstandings between the two countries and how to overcome them.
