Southern Beijing Development

Since 2010, Beijing has initiated three rounds of development projects in its southern area encompassing the districts of Fengtai, Daxing and Fangshan. The newest scheme, the Southern Beijing Development Action Plan, was released in 2018 to boost the joint and balanced development of the area by supporting a package of industries and sectors such as logistics, pharmacy and financial technology. The new action plan will construct an open and orderly market that will serve the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region with a focus on the Lize Business Zone, Beijing Daxing International Airport, Beijing Economic and Technology Development Area, Higher Education Zone and the Xiongan New Area in Hebei Province. Government investment in southern Beijing will rise year-on-year and the area is expected to become a new engine to drive the sound development of the capital and a new pilot zone across the country.
