Foldable Devices Are the Future

Over the past year, global smartphone manufacturers have displayed a variety of cutting-edge devices with foldable screens. Samsung and Huawei have also released mass production strategies even though the application scenarios and market remain unclear because of technological restrictions, production capacity and high production costs. Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), a display market research firm based in the US, predicted that the foldable screen market will generate revenues of US$8.9 billion and produce 63 million units by 2022, up from three million units in 2019. In the era of 5G, foldable screens provide a major interactive mobile terminal that enables the Internet of Things to become possible, providing great application potential in products such as smart homes and vehicles, virtual reality and artificial intelligence. It is generally believed that 5G has opened the high-speed internet interconnection and foldable smartphones herald the future.
