China’s home-made regional jetliner the ARJ21 was delivered to TransNusa in Indonesia on December 18, 2022, the plane’s first entry to the overseas market.

Developed by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd (COMAC) in the early 2000s, the ARJ21 (Advanced Regional Jet for the 21st century) has a maximum range of 3,700 kilometers, and is designed to cope with all terrains, including alpine and high plateau areas. With capacity for 78-90 seats, it flies to and from large and medium hub cities, with a service life of 60,000 flight hours or 20 calendar years.

The ARJ21 has been in commercial operation since November 2015 and was first used for international flights in October 2019. On July 30, 2020, 103 ARJ21 planes successfully finished test flights at the world’s highest airport for civil use, Daocheng Yading Airport in Sichuan Province, whose altitude is 4,411 meters above sea level. COMAC has delivered nearly 100 ARJ21 planes which have transported more than 5.6 million passengers over 300 routes between 100 cities.
