At the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held from November 8 to 11 in Beijing, a keynote meeting on China’s political calendar, the CPC adopted a landmark document entitled “Resolution of the CPC Central Committee on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century.” It is the third of its kind in the 100-year history of the CPC since its founding in 1921. The first was issued in 1945 and the second in 1981.

At the press conference on November 12, Wang Xiaohui, executive deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, said the resolution focuses on summing up major achievements and historical experience of the CPC’s 100 years of endeavor, while the previous resolutions clarified the right and wrong in the party’s history. It “establishes ‘10 clarifications’ to further elaborate on the core tenets of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,” Wang said.
