Netizens are howling over a pet store in Chengdu, Sichuan Province found advertising a “cat-sharing” service. For 9.9 yuan (US$1.5), customers can rent cats from the store for the day. While owners say the service allows people to enjoy a pet without the commitment, netizens called it cruel. Some pointed out that as cats are very sensitive to changes in environment, the constant switching of owners and homes could be harmful. Others argued that any service involving living creatures should take their physical and psychological health into consideration.
