The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) published the 2020 Annual Report on Informatization of Chinese Courts on June 2, saying that smart information technologies have made courts more transparent.

Nearly 98 percent of courts throughout the country support online case filing and 58.2 percent support online trials.

After a government website for public trials went into use in 2016, Chinese courts at different levels livestreamed trials nearly four million times in 2019, 33.2 percent of the total, 17.4 percent higher than in 2018.

Information is also more accessible since the government set up a website in 2014 that allows litigants to access information related to their cases, judges and trial process. The CASS report said that in 2019, courts publicized 99.5 percent of trial information.
