According to statistics from the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, more than 10,000 Chinese people are diagnosed with a form of cancer and 6,000 people die from cancer every day. Cancer accounts for nearly a quarter of all deaths in China. Six million people in the country are expected to suffer from cancer each year by 2030, causing the deaths of 3.5 million people. A Health China campaign guideline which was approved by the State Council in 2016 vowed to increase the survival rate of cancer patients by 15 percent by 2030 through making changes to unhealthy lifestyles, improving the environment and taking precautionary measures. Medical experts warned that it is high time to establish a big data model to scientifically gauge cancer hazards and simultaneously improve the clinical practices of cancer treatment.
