Police detained three men who posed for photos in uniforms bearing swastikas and other Nazi symbols at a cemetery for military martyrs in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province and posted them online. The cosplayers told local police they had the uniforms custom made and took the photos for fun. Many on social media, however, said their actions were an insult to the heroes at rest in the cemetery. In May, the country issued a new law that bans the slander of martyrs and whitewashing of history following a similar incident involving two young men posting photos of themselves in Japanese World War II military uniforms.
