A middle school in Nanyang, Henan Province, has come under fire after its “mobile phone destruction show” was exposed, where teachers destroyed cellphones they had confiscated from students by smashing them with hammers or throwing them into water. The school claimed that the show aimed to warn the students against being distracted from their studies, while netizens were surprised at the school’s trampling of China’s Property Law, saying that the school has no right and no excuse for dealing with any private property owned by the students.
